Best Glock 26 - One of the most competitive markets in the handgun world is the subcompact handgun market. With short barrels and small magazines, subcompacts are for those who prefer portability over firepower and range. The Glock 26, dubbed the "Baby Glock" by the company, is a compact rifle that can carry the same amount of ammunition as a full-sized 9mm pistol.
Released in 1994, the Glock 26 was designed from the ground up for home defense, law enforcement and concealed carry. The subcompact Glock 26 was succeeded by the compact Glock 19, which in turn was a smaller version of the original Glock 17. With each iteration, Glock improved the overall design while making it smaller and more useful for concealed carry and those who needed a separate pistol.

A comparison of the Glock 17 and the Glock 26 is illustrative. Both are nine millimeter Luger pistols and use the same operating system known as "Safe Operation". The company designed the pistol's three internal safety guards in such a way that the gun owner must remove them in order to fire the gun. Both have the same 5.5 pound trigger pull with half an inch of trigger travel. The 1.18 inch guns are even the same width. All of this is important because it allows new or current gun owners to pick up a larger Glock 17 (or Glock 19) as their first handgun and then purchase a smaller Glock 26 without having to learn the ins and outs of a new firearm. The Glock 26 is for all intents and purposes the same pistol with a manual trigger feel.
Glock 26 Subcompact
However, it is important to note that the dimensions and ammo capacity of these two weapons differ in different but equally useful ways. At 6.41 inches, the Glock 26 is more than an inch and a half shorter than the Glock 17. The Glock 26 weighs 21.71 ounces empty, a quarter of a pound less than the Glock 17, and weighs even less loaded thanks to the smaller magazine. The Glock 26 has a two-piece ten-round magazine, while the Glock 17 has a seventeen-round magazine.
The Glock 26's magazine system is the largest and most versatile in its class. One competitor, the Smith & Wesson M&P Bodyguard, can only hold six .380 cartridges. The other, the Beretta Nano, carries eight nine-millimeter Luger rounds. The Glock 26, on the other hand, fires ten nine-millimeter rounds in a double-stack magazine, yet remains just over an inch wide and has a relatively short grip. To keep the grip short, the Glock 26 lacks an extended magwell. (Some find the Glock subcompact grip a little too short, and for them there are inexpensive thirty-sided extensions that offer a greater grip.)
The Glock 26 trades magazine capacity for a compact. But it has the ability to regain that firepower at the expense of the payload if the user so desires. The "Baby Glock" G26 can also hold a fifteen-round Glock 19 magazine, a seventeen-round Glock 17, and even a 33-round frame-sized Glock submachine gun without modification.
Glock periodically releases new versions of its pistols and conservatively adds new features as they become available. In 2018, Glock introduced the Gen 5 Glock 26. The Gen 5 features a Glock Marksman barrel with an improved right hand polygon and improved barrel crown. The Gen 5 also features a new dot pattern on the handle, back and front bar for better grip, double-sided sliding stops, and a new sliding finish called nDLC to protect against corrosion and wear. The Gen 5 has no finger grooves, which are unnecessary with the new grip pattern.

The Glock 26 is actually several guns in one. At its core, it's a compact pistol with an above-average magazine capacity. Alternatively, it is a pistol with a standard magazine capacity of seventeen rounds. Finally, it can be a 33-sack burst that can explode on the field. The "Baby Glock" is not only a contender for concealed carry enthusiasts, but also a viable option for everyone else.

Although it is a smaller firearm overall and the internals have been moved closer, the 26 is still a Glock and carries with it the reliability it is known for.

Of all the firearms on the planet, the Glock seems to have the most accessories available. From lasers to holsters, cleaning tools and holsters, Glock has by far the most options. In the world of concealed carry, the size and weight of your firearm play a big role in how comfortable you are holding the gun. on your person all day. The smaller and lighter the gun, the better. This is why firearms like the thin and light Glock 26 have proven so popular for everyday carry (EDC).

Today we tackle some of the most burning questions on the internet about this subcompact handgun and who should buy it and why. This is everything you need to know about the Glock 26.
Before we continue, we need to break down some of the specs of this gun as these are important facts to know when considering a concealed carry gun. The Glock 26 Gen 4 weighs about 25 ounces with a loaded magazine. That makes it about five ounces lighter than another popular 9mm Luger, the Glock 19.
The overall size of this firearm is much smaller, with a barrel length of 3.43 inches and a slide length of 6.26 inches. This Glock pistol has a very slim profile with a slide of 1.26 inches and an overall width of one inch. This makes the Glock G26 very comfortable to carry inside the waistband (IWB), while still providing great access to the shooter should he need it.

It's worth mentioning that the newer model Glock 26 Gen 5 weighs about an ounce more with a loaded magazine, and the slide is slightly wider. However, the specifications are mostly the same. You can expect the same Glock Marksman barrel, trigger guard, and the same type of trigger pull from the Gen 5 models. One big difference between the two models is that Glock put the finger grooves on the Gen 4 models and removed them on the Gen 5s. You may have to hold them in your hands at a gun shop to determine which one you like better, as everyone has a different opinion on this aspect. Glock kept the same grip design in both models. Another big difference is that the Gen 5 models have a more beveled edge on the front of the spool and additional serrations for easier slide attachment.
The biggest thing to notice about both versions is the height. Both generations are 4.17 inches tall, giving this firearm a much shorter grip than the G19. This is important because some shooters will find it more difficult to hold and control the rifle. Many shooters take a little time to get used to not having your cuddly fingers wrapped around the bottom of the grip. For this reason, shooters with smaller hands and women may find this gun more comfortable than others.
You can't talk about the Glock 26 without mentioning the G43. Because the G43 easily beats the sleek and compact 26. The Glock 43 weighs just 20 ounces with a fully loaded magazine. The frame is slightly larger with an overall height of 4.25 inches and the slide is narrower at 0.87 inches
